  ...And Lost

President George W. Bush requested that Democrats and Republicans work together to develop a new strategy for the war in Iraq. The day of this debilitated request, December 9, 2006, will someday be seen as when the United States ceded the win to its enemy and anointed the loss of the Iraqi war front of World War III to itself.
The force that crushed the president -- the leader of the free world -- was ostensibly release of a blue ribbon panel's report stating that the current US approach was not working. But it was a capitulation of grand destitution.
The President of the United States said, "Now it is the responsibility of all of us in Washington, Republicans and Democrats alike, to come together and find greater consensus on the best way forward."
The president fails to comprehend that his personal and political enemies want to destroy him regardless of any short or long term consequences to the US.
The president finally acted, admits, and has demonstrated that he lacks the fortitude required to lead. He finds it impossible to consult experts, deliberate, make high level plans, and adapt those plans pragmatically.

The United States Congress and its petty, short-sighted members and cronies will wage internal power struggles designed to discredit the nation's leaders. The disloyal opposition sees the greatly weakened president. It will do what it does best. It will flail, demonstrate no wisdom, act only in simple self-interest, and work to destroy any domestic faction that disagrees with it.
Our domestic vultures will never realize that the spoils they win are worthless. The United States will have been so devalued that only losers could credit these vultures with a win.

War has been waged since before man left his caves. The most cursory review of history teaches any thinking person that history is a war with peace breaks wherein warriors regroup for the next war.
The United States has pulled out. December 9, 2006, is analogous to the 1975 roof-top evacuation from Vietnam.
The Vietnamese people took over, made progress their way, and developed their nation into a productive pseudo-capitalistic economy.
The Iraqis have proven themselves incapable of accomplishments similar to the Vietnamese people. Instead, they will allow fanatics to overrun Iraq and the region. The fanatics will then be empowered to pursue their final objective -- the destruction of Western Civilization.
The fanatics smell Western Civilization's blood. If no genuine leadership comes forth soon, Western Civilization will die.
Goodbye Beethoven, Aristotle, Rembrandt, Newton, and Burke. Lost forever are the magnificent efforts of so many geniuses and foot soldiers who fought for liberty over the millennia.
Put that in your hybrids and your self-involved, arrogant, self-aggrandized, petty lives while you oscillate over global warming, exercising, trans-fats, and the neighbors you dislike.
