Perspective:  Pain & Price Paid
Some people remember when 5,000, 6,000, 7,000 Americans died in just days just to gain a foothold on some crappy little South Pacific island. And remember that the island was abandoned to continue progressing to end the Japanese terror.
Some people remember when 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 Americans died fighting for yards a day through Italy on the road to Rome.
Some people remember when 120, 240, 1,200 Americans died in some filthy, stinking, freezing foxholes of Korea.
Some people remember when 80, 120, 210 Americans died in the jungles of Vietnam, sometimes each day, day after day, for days.
Some people recoil when 1, 2, 5 Americans die when an IED explodes under their Hummer in Iraq.
Some people fail to comprehend that nothing in life is free. All civilized people recoil at these deaths. Some people should realize that our liberty will be lost over the next decades without these losses. And then all prior deaths will have been sacrificed and priced far greater for less than they were promised -- and believed in.
Some people will blame President Bush for the lost - but not wasted - American lives in Iraq. Some people will blame George W. Bush for stirring up the maniacs of the Middle East when terrorism finally reaches Main Street, USA. Since 2001, President Bush has been The Genuine Leader & Protector of liberty & civilization. Some people may not like him and illogically overlay their common sense with political nonsense. These ordinary people must be excused for not understanding the Big Picture.
Some retired military generals who now "have theirs" and live safely in obscurity see opportunity to use hindsight and the media to proclaim that they knew better that President Bush, Secretary Rumsfeld, and other defenders. Some people listen to these losers. Others see them as the grandstanding opportunists they obviously are.
